Residents demand action against rising housing costs and inequality

Laverne, an advocate for affordable housing, echoed Barista's sentiments, emphasizing the need for better housing solutions and the importance of community support. She recounted her efforts in developing affordable housing projects, stressing that many residents are struggling to find adequate living conditions.

Gina Davis, another resident, urged the council to support a resolution aimed at banning algorithmic systems that set rental prices, arguing that such technology exacerbates inequalities and drives up costs for tenants. She also raised concerns about police accountability following the death of Andrew Washington, calling for improved community safety measures.

Additionally, Donna Dorgan expressed her opposition to a proposed 50-story hotel development near a local Little League field, arguing that such construction would negatively impact children's recreational spaces and exacerbate traffic issues.
