Ending death penalty could ease victims families suffering

He also cautioned against attempts to expedite the death penalty process in Utah, referencing comments made by Tom Brunker from the District Attorney General's Office. Brunker noted that speeding up the state process could lead to increased delays at the federal level due to potential errors.

Erica Devlin, the granddaughter of a victim, also spoke against the bill, sharing her personal loss and the impact of her grandmother's absence on her life. Devlin expressed her frustration over missed opportunities to connect with her grandmother, underscoring the emotional toll that ongoing legal proceedings have on families.
