City Council Approves Budget Amid Electric Truck Setback

During a recent government meeting, Murray City officials discussed the finalization of the 2023-2024 fiscal year budget, which remains unchanged from the tentative budget previously passed. The budget includes significant funding for various capital projects, such as the continuation of theater renovations, improvements to the armory, and the acquisition of new fire trucks and police vehicles. Additionally, the city is set to enhance its road infrastructure and has already placed orders for new trucks, expected to arrive within two years.

The meeting also featured a public hearing, but no comments were made by attendees. Following the hearing, the council moved to adopt the budget, with a motion made by Council Member Rogers and seconded by Council Member Dominguez. The motion passed unanimously.

In a separate discussion, the Mayor addressed the procurement of an electric lightning truck, revealing that a previously secured vehicle had been sold to another buyer. The Mayor expressed disappointment but assured the council that efforts to find a suitable replacement would continue. The council members expressed their support for moving forward with the purchase as soon as a viable option is identified.
