Community honors volunteers with prestigious service awards

The Mansfield City Council convened on Tuesday evening, beginning with an invocation led by Yolani Lashley, president and CEO of Texas Health Hospital Mansfield. Lashley expressed her enthusiasm for the hospital's growth and advancements in cardiology and vascular services, emphasizing the facility's commitment to providing advanced healthcare to the community.

Following the invocation, the council recognized several individuals and families for their volunteer efforts through the President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). The Keeler family was acknowledged for their impressive 283 hours of service, although they were unable to attend the ceremony. Kelly Overby received a bronze PVSA for his dedication to keeping Mansfield litter-free, having volunteered 150 hours.

The council also honored several young volunteers, including 13-year-old Brandon Clark, who has contributed through the Civil Air Patrol and Crossroad Christian Church, and 17-year-old Andrea Clark, who volunteers at Methodist Mansfield Hospital. Both received recognition for their commitment to community service. Additionally, 15-year-old Evan Crum was acknowledged for his work at youth camps, while Eva Gurung, a recent graduate, was celebrated for her extensive involvement in civic organizations and her upcoming studies in neuroscience at Princeton University.

The evening concluded with a round of applause for all honorees, highlighting the significant impact of volunteerism in the Mansfield community.
