City Council Approves Controversial Townhome Development Plan

In a recent government meeting, plans for a new development project were presented, featuring two commercial buildings and 21 townhomes. The proposed site plan includes the construction of the commercial buildings along Redwood, designed with a thin brick veneer and reaching heights of 30 feet. These buildings are intended for use as warehouse and office space.

The residential component consists of townhomes that will stand at 39 feet tall, exceeding the typical residential height limit of 35 feet. The townhomes will be constructed using fiber cement siding, stucco, and brick, each equipped with individual garage spaces and driveways capable of accommodating two vehicles. The project aims for a density of approximately eight units per acre.

This proposal has been reviewed by the city council on three occasions, with the latest meeting resulting in a directive to proceed with the application. The development is poised to contribute to the local housing market while also providing commercial opportunities in the area. The planning commission will now consider the next steps in the approval process.
