Draper crowns new royalty with a focus on service

During a recent government meeting, the city of Draper celebrated the crowning of its new royalty, highlighting community service and engagement. The event featured heartfelt acknowledgments of the outgoing royalty, particularly Grace Mead, who played a key role in designing the new Miss Draper logo.

The newly crowned Miss Draper 2022, Lauren Karn, was introduced alongside her attendants, Ashley and Shaylyn Preeti. Lauren, a valedictorian and honors student at the University of Utah, plans to focus her service initiative on improving mental health through the arts. Her commitment to the community reflects a broader emphasis on the importance of arts in fostering well-being.

Ashley, the first attendant, is a BYU student and dedicated volunteer, known for her efforts in organizing a Christmas food drive and teaching English in Thailand. She aims to promote volunteer opportunities within Draper. Shaylyn, the second attendant, is an accomplished high school student with aspirations in business and a passion for literacy in early education. She currently serves as the youth mayor for Draper City’s Mayor’s Youth Council.

The event concluded with a photo session featuring the new royalty alongside Mayor Walker and the city council, marking a celebratory moment for Draper’s community spirit and commitment to service.
