Firefighters Honored in Historic Oath Ceremony

In a brief yet impactful city council meeting, Draper City celebrated the achievements of its fire department, which has been operational for just five years. The meeting commenced with a prayer led by network administrator Jake Sorensen, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Fire Chief Clint Smith.

The highlight of the evening was a ceremonial swearing-in for two firefighters who received promotions. Chief Smith praised the department's growth and the exceptional qualities of the individuals being honored. Battalion Chief Brian Plummer and Captain Andrew Pritchard were recognized for their dedication and contributions to the department since its inception.

Plummer, who joined the department from South Salt Lake Fire Department, was promoted to battalion chief, while Pritchard, a seasoned paramedic, was elevated to captain. Both promotions were made possible through the recent budget season, which allowed for the addition of an administrative battalion chief position.

Chief Smith expressed gratitude for the council's support in establishing the fire department, noting the rapid development from concept to operational status in just nine months. The council members echoed this sentiment, commending the firefighters for their hard work and commitment to public safety in Draper City. The meeting concluded with an invitation for family members of the promoted firefighters to remain and celebrate their achievements.
