Construction projects surge as schools prepare for reopening

In a recent government meeting, officials provided updates on several key construction and renovation projects aimed at enhancing educational facilities and health services in the community.

The Classic City Health Center is progressing well, with demolition completed and framing underway. Officials met with MEDLINK to finalize electrical outlet placements, and plumbing and electrical rough-ins are currently in progress. The facility is on track to become operational by mid-August, with a target date of October 1st for patient services.

In the realm of education, significant upgrades are being made across 15 facilities, including the replacement of outdated smart boards with new standard whiteboards and projectors. This initiative aims to modernize classroom technology and improve the learning environment for students.

At Cedar Shoals, construction is advancing with ongoing demolition in the agricultural science area and an expansion of the cafeteria, which will add 1,000 square feet of space. New VRF exterior units are being installed to enhance classroom climate control, and preparations for a new tennis court are underway. The completion date for these renovations is also set for August 1st.

Clark Middle School is undergoing substantial renovations, including the removal of trailers and the start of demolition on the A and B wings. New landscaping, including sod for the soccer field and installation of an ag area, is in progress. The school is also receiving new furniture and kitchen equipment, with installations nearing completion.

Overall, these projects reflect a commitment to improving community health and educational infrastructure, with all facilities expected to be ready for the upcoming school year.
