Men's mental health takes center stage in community support

In a recent government meeting, community leaders highlighted the importance of mental health awareness among men, coinciding with a heartfelt Father's Day message. Emphasizing that seeking help is a sign of strength, speakers encouraged men to prioritize their mental well-being alongside physical health. Tanya Scheffner from Tuolumne County Airports reported on the successful Father's Day fly-in event, themed \"Remember When,\" which honored World War II veterans. The event attracted over 3,500 attendees, featuring 70 classic cars and more than 100 aircraft. Notably, seven World War II veterans, including two aged 102, were celebrated during the festivities. Although not all veterans could participate in the dream flights due to weather conditions, plans are underway to reschedule flights for 16 veterans in the fall.

Scheffner also provided an update on the airport's role in supporting CAL FIRE operations, with multiple helicopters and tankers currently stationed at the facility to assist with firefighting efforts. The meeting concluded with a sense of accomplishment regarding community engagement and support for both mental health and local veterans.
