Lexington Wildcats celebrate historic state championship victory

In a recent session on June 25, 2024, the Lexington County Council officially recognized the Lexington High School Wildcats baseball team for their remarkable achievement in capturing the South Carolina 5A state championship. The Wildcats secured their title on May 24, 2024, with a decisive victory in the final game of a three-game series against Ashley Ridge, concluding their playoff run with an undefeated record of 8-0 and an overall season record of 27-7.

This championship marks the seventh baseball title for Lexington High School, further solidifying the team's legacy in the sport. The Wildcats' successful season included notable tournament victories at the Terrorist Solutions Invitational and the Diamond Invitational, alongside their district and upper state championships.

Coach Bridal Hooks, who has now led the team to four state titles, was commended for his leadership and dedication, earning him the title of Baseball Coach of the Year. The council also acknowledged the contributions of athletic director Dustin Curtis and assistant coaches who played pivotal roles in the team's success.

The championship roster included standout players such as Connor Holmes, Bridal Cromer, and Brad Burton, among others, whose hard work and commitment were highlighted during the meeting. The council encouraged community members to attend the upcoming game to show their support for the champions, emphasizing the importance of local engagement in celebrating such achievements.
