City Council Approves Major Development at Former Prudential Site

In a recent government meeting, the council held a public hearing regarding the vacation of a sanitary sewer easement at the Boulevard development site, formerly known as the Prudential site, located at 130 County Road 10. The request, made by Skinnell Properties, is part of the final plat approval process for the new development.

The council discussed the necessity of the easement vacation, which is contingent upon the installation of a new sanitary sewer line and the recording of the final plat. City staff confirmed that there were no objections from utility companies or local residents regarding the proposed changes. The existing sewer line, currently serving the area, will be replaced with a new alignment to better serve both the Boulevard development and surrounding residents.

Council members raised questions about the inspection process for the new sewer installation, which will be overseen by the city’s engineering department. They also clarified that the project would not affect any infrastructure beneath Interstate 494, as a separate city project is already addressing those concerns.

Following the public hearing, the council unanimously approved the resolution to vacate the sanitary sewer easement. The meeting then moved on to the approval of the final plat and development contract for the Boulevard project, which encompasses 75 acres and includes plans for various commercial and residential developments, including a grocery store, office spaces, and 925 apartment units.

The council emphasized the importance of this project, which is expected to enhance the local economy and provide new amenities for residents. Construction is anticipated to commence soon, pending the final plat approval.
