Community plans major seawall overhaul for future safety

In a recent government meeting, discussions centered around the proposed replacement of aging docks and pilings, with a focus on cost efficiency and community benefit. However, it was concluded that angling the docks would not provide significant advantages and would substantially increase costs.

The current pilings, which are over 20 years old, are nearing the end of their lifespan. The engineer emphasized that replacing all pilings at once would be more economical than addressing them individually at a later date. This comprehensive approach is seen as essential for maintaining the seawall's integrity and preventing future structural failures.

Board members expressed support for the proposal, with one member noting that the existing 30-foot extension aligns with the community's needs. The meeting concluded without further comments, indicating a consensus on the necessity of the project for the benefit of the local area.
