City plans bold redesign for Memorial Hall site

During a recent city council meeting, officials discussed the next steps in the demolition of Memorial Hall and the development of a memorial park. City staff outlined the process for issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to secure design services for the new park, following the council's directive in June.

City representative Mister Edwards emphasized the importance of clarity regarding the RFQ process and timeline. The RFQ is set to be issued on August 5, with proposals due by September 9. The selected consultant will be tasked with creating a design concept for the park, which may include multiple preliminary designs before finalizing one.

A key focus of the proposal evaluation will be the firms' plans for citizen engagement. Edwards highlighted the necessity of involving the community in the design process, stating that the city will prioritize proposals that demonstrate effective strategies for soliciting public input and ideas.
