Community leader proposes bold plan to combat homelessness

During a recent government meeting in Marietta, community members voiced their concerns and proposals regarding homelessness and public safety, highlighting the pressing issues facing the city.

Christian Ellis, a local resident, passionately addressed the council about his vision for addressing homelessness in Cobb County. Barr also reflected on the loss of Officer Steve Campisi three years ago, reminding the council of the sacrifices made by public safety officers. He expressed concern over the retention of veteran officers, advocating for a step-and-grade pay system to ensure that experienced personnel are compensated appropriately compared to new recruits. He urged the council to prioritize the well-being of those who serve the community, emphasizing the need for a balanced budget that supports both public safety and the residents of Marietta.
