Walpole Schools Kick Off Year with Tribute and New Staff

The Walpole School Committee convened on August 29, 2024, marking the first meeting of the new school year with a moment of silence for Emmanuel Araya, a beloved student from the Boyden School who passed away over the summer. The committee expressed condolences to his family and the community, highlighting the impact he had on his peers.

Superintendent Dr. Goff provided an enthusiastic update on the start of the 2024-2025 school year, noting that school offices opened on August 20 and staff returned for a successful opening event at Walpole High School. Students in grades 1 through 12 began classes on August 28, with pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students set to return shortly thereafter. Dr. Goff praised the new middle school facility, commending the smooth operations during arrival and dismissal, despite ongoing construction.

The meeting also highlighted the successful orientation for new staff, with 27 new educators participating in a comprehensive training program that included technology resources, multi-tiered support systems, and professional development on cultural proficiency and bullying prevention. Dr. Hahn emphasized the enthusiasm and commitment of the new staff, expressing optimism about their contributions to the district.
