City secures federal funds to save taxpayers millions

During a recent government meeting, officials highlighted a significant financial opportunity aimed at enhancing clean water initiatives while providing substantial savings for taxpayers. Originally, the city had the potential to refinance $20 million in Build America bonds. However, through ongoing negotiations, this amount has increased to $31 million. The refinancing is projected to save the city approximately $3.2 million over the life of the bonds, which are set to be paid off by 2040, maintaining the original payment schedule.
