Zionsville honors Olympic hero with special proclamation

In a recent government meeting, Zionsville Mayor John Stayer celebrated local Olympian Matt Anderson, proclaiming August 19th as \"Matt Anderson Day.\" Anderson, a member of the bronze-winning men's volleyball team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has a remarkable athletic history, including being a four-time Olympian and a two-time bronze medalist. Following the celebration, Mayor Stayer provided an update on the town's financial audit. The State Board of Accounts (SBOA) has begun auditing Zionsville's finances for the years 2022 and 2023. The mayor noted that the audit process is crucial for addressing previous operational issues, particularly with software performance. Additionally, the mayor discussed changes in police patrol areas. Chief Spears has collaborated with the Boone County Sheriff to improve resource deployment for better community protection. The Zionsville Police Department will take over patrolling a rural section of the town, which has seen fewer calls for service.
