Farmers Branch sanitation crews are actively engaged in debris collection following last week's storms, with residents advised to expect significant delays due to the volume of debris. This week marks the monthly bulk collection period, during which homeowners can place bulk items for collection, but must keep brush and bulk items separate. Notably, residents will not face citations for placing bulk items out early, as brush collection remains a priority.
The Barny Wood Dog Park will remain closed for several days due to saturation from heavy rains, which have left the area with standing water and deep mud. Meanwhile, the Branch Connection has relocated most programs and activities to alternate locations, including the First Baptist Church on William Dodson Parkway, with most activities set to resume at city facilities on August 12th.
Residents are invited to the Farmers Branch Independence Day celebration on July 3rd, featuring the party band Empire 6, free kids' activities, festival food, and a fireworks show. Firecracker passes for free admission and early entry can be picked up at the rec center and other city facilities.
Additionally, starting June 5th, residents on the west side of I-35 will have an extra trash collection day on Wednesdays, while recycling and brush collection will continue on Wednesdays only. For any inquiries, residents can contact the city at 972-919-2613.
