School District Partners to Provide Free Eye Care for Students

The Monrovia Unified School District Board of Education has approved a memorandum of understanding with Vision to Learn, aimed at providing free or reduced eye care services to students from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade. This partnership, effective from June 1, 2022, through July 30, 2024, will enable the district to offer eye care access during the summer of 2022 at no cost to families.

Vision to Learn operates in 14 states and over 500 cities, focusing on improving students' access to essential eye care services. Board members expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its potential positive impact on local families. Communication strategies to inform families about the program were discussed, including phone blasts, printed letters, and robocalls to ensure widespread awareness.

Additionally, the PTA Council President, Gretchen Maldonado, is actively promoting the program among PTA leaders to encourage participation. The district is committed to ensuring that families are well-informed and engaged in this valuable opportunity for their children.
