Urgent plans to secure fire trucks amid supply crisis

The conversation highlighted the urgency of securing new fire pumpers, with officials noting that the current order for two pumpers is still in the queue for production, while a ladder truck is not expected until October 2025. Concerns were raised about the need for a proactive replacement plan to avoid future equipment shortages, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a rotation of apparatus to prevent all units from aging simultaneously.

Officials also explored the possibility of borrowing equipment from neighboring jurisdictions, such as Georgetown and Lehi, to bridge the gap until new units arrive. However, the availability of spare units remains uncertain, with Georgetown's reserves currently committed to other projects.

In a separate discussion, Michael Hennigan informed attendees about the USDA's recent declaration of natural disaster areas due to drought, affecting ten counties in Kentucky.
