New manufacturing facility set to boost local jobs

In a recent government meeting, discussions centered around workforce development and a significant manufacturing project in North London Township. The meeting also featured a proposal from the law firm representing Lehi Pack USA, a Greece-based manufacturing company. They are in the process of acquiring 21 acres from the Lebanon Valley Economic Development Corporation to establish a 190,000 square foot facility, which is expected to create 60 to 70 jobs. However, it was noted that 5 acres of this land fell outside the previously established Florida district, prompting the need for an amendment to the county's resolution from 2007.

The township has already taken steps to amend its Florida district, and the representatives sought a similar adjustment from the county. A motion was made and seconded to approve this amendment, although one council member voiced concerns about fairness in business incentives, emphasizing that all businesses should contribute equally without preferential treatment.
