City Council Approves Controversial Motor Vehicle License Transfer

In a recent city council meeting, Kevin Venagro was appointed as an alternate member of the Peabody Historical Commission, receiving unanimous support from councilors. Venagro, a resident of 3 Emery Street and a member of the historical society for over a year, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve. The council also held a public hearing regarding the transfer of a Class 2 motor vehicle license from Gene Machado to Argelia Mata, representing Express Motor Group. Mata, who is currently managing the business while her mother is abroad, addressed concerns raised by local residents regarding car deliveries and compliance with city ordinances.

Councilor McGinn highlighted an administrative issue from 2019 that had affected the license transfer process. He noted that the applicant had agreed to adhere to a parking plan and develop a car delivery strategy to mitigate neighborhood complaints. The police department has reviewed and accepted the proposed delivery plan, paving the way for the council's support of the license transfer.
