Village unveils ambitious residential development plan

During a recent government meeting, officials discussed a proposed residential development by Lennar at Route 56, located at the northwest corner of Galena and Route 56. This site, previously part of the Timber Crest Subdivision, has remained dormant for 18 years after the prior developer chose not to proceed with the project.

The village has been approached by Lennar to present a concept plan for the property, which includes a mix of housing options such as single-family homes and townhomes. The development aims to cater to a diverse demographic, targeting young professionals, families, and active adults seeking homes that meet their current needs.

An existing annexation agreement for the property is set to expire in March 2026, after which the land can be developed under current zoning regulations. This development could mark a significant step forward in revitalizing the area and addressing housing demands within the community.
