Community unites to raise awareness for domestic violence

During a recent government meeting, community leaders highlighted the importance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is observed in October. Linda from Safe Harbor emphasized the organization's efforts to raise awareness through various events and initiatives throughout the month.

The city has supported these efforts by illuminating public spaces with purple lights, symbolizing the fight against domestic violence. Residents and local businesses are encouraged to participate by displaying purple decorations, such as porch lights and pumpkins, to foster community engagement and awareness.

Additionally, several local restaurants, including Slim Chickens and Texas Roadhouse, are partnering with Safe Harbor to host fundraising events. A portion of the sales from designated dining days will be donated to support the organization's mission.

A key event in the awareness campaign is the candlelight vigil scheduled for October 17th at 5 PM, which aims to honor victims and promote community solidarity against domestic violence. Community members are invited to attend and show their support.
