City Council honors hero for brave intervention

The Escalon City Council convened for its regular meeting on October 7, 2024, with a series of significant presentations and recognitions highlighting community service and awareness initiatives.

Santos intervened in a confrontation between two individuals, successfully de-escalating the situation and preventing further violence, including the potential use of a firearm. The Escalon Police Department presented him with a certificate of recognition for his bravery.

The council also proclaimed October 2024 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, emphasizing the importance of early detection and community support for those affected by the disease. Mayor David Bellinger read the proclamation, which acknowledged the impact of breast cancer on women and the ongoing efforts of advocates and healthcare providers in the fight against the disease.
