Community leader rallies support for crucial school funding measure

During a recent government meeting, the council acknowledged Constitution Week, a tradition initiated by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to promote education and historic preservation. The observance, which begins on September 17, commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution and was officially declared by President Eisenhower in 1956. Attendees were encouraged to visit Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., which honors the Constitution and its principles of freedom, equality, and justice.

Following this recognition, the meeting transitioned to public comments, allowing community members to address the council on matters not listed on the agenda. Ridgecrest resident Chris Hill took the opportunity to advocate for Measure AA, emphasizing the need for improved school facilities. Hill urged the community to support the measure, which would provide funding necessary for the district to access a $100 million federal grant. He highlighted the importance of safe and functional learning environments for the children of Ridgecrest, framing the measure as a critical investment in the community's future.
