City employees demand answers on health benefits and pay raises

In a recent government meeting, representatives from the local union expressed concerns regarding the city's handling of retiree health benefits and compensation for a small group of employees. The union highlighted that the former city manager may have advocated for the elimination of vested retirement health benefits, which has raised alarm among current retirees and employees. Additionally, the union raised an issue regarding the delayed implementation of a class and compensation study for five parks and recreation employees, who have not received the promised increases despite other city employees benefiting from the adjustments. The representatives pointed out that nearly two years have passed since the study was supposed to be completed, and they requested clarification from the city staff on why these employees have been excluded from the adjustments.
