During a recent meeting of the Saint John's Cultural Council, significant updates were discussed regarding a mural project spearheaded by artist Brooke Page. The mural, which aims to enhance the cultural landscape of St. Augustine Beach, has undergone revisions to include additional wildlife imagery and will now feature two surfboards instead of one. The design adjustments also include a reduction in the size of sponsor logos, with a more prominent display of \"City of St. Augustine Beach.\"
The Cultural Council highlighted the collaborative efforts behind the project, which involves partnerships with the Live Wildly Foundation, the Saint Augustine Beach Civic Association, and the City of St. Augustine Beach. Meredith Budd, representing the Live Wildly Foundation, emphasized the organization's commitment to balancing ecological and economic needs in Florida. She noted that the foundation is actively involved in local conservation efforts, including sponsorship of the upcoming Music and Art by the Sea series and the Sing Out Loud Festival, where proceeds will support conservation initiatives.
Budd expressed enthusiasm for the mural project, praising the quality of artist submissions and the final design by Page, which she described as stunning and well-suited to the community's aesthetic. The mural is set to be unveiled during Latin Conservation Week, coinciding with a live mural painting event scheduled for Wednesday, September 18. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship in the region.
