Florida Orchestra plans major concert to revitalize downtown

During a recent city council meeting, Ignacio Barambiala, representing The Florida Orchestra, presented a funding request for a special concert event scheduled for November 10th at the Sound. Barambiala expressed enthusiasm about the potential concert, emphasizing its role in reactivating downtown Saint Petersburg and fostering community engagement. He highlighted the orchestra's diverse programming, which includes a mix of movies and classical music aimed at families. The funding application is set to be reviewed on September 17th.

Following Barambiala's remarks, the meeting transitioned to new business items, where Jesus Nino, the executive director of the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), introduced Anna Lopez, the assistant director, to present the final millage rate and the downtown development board's annual operating budget. The meeting underscored ongoing efforts to enhance community activities and support local arts initiatives, reflecting the city's commitment to revitalizing downtown areas.
