Residents Rally Against Controversial Warehouse Development Plan

In a recent government meeting, discussions centered around a proposed rezoning request for a property currently characterized by abandoned trailers and equipment. The property, which has undergone some cleanup, is being considered for development into a 10,000 square foot warehouse intended for gas station supplies. Stephanie Lowery, a resident whose property backs onto the proposed site, raised alarms about the implications of the warehouse, particularly regarding increased watershed and flooding risks. She highlighted that the property is situated above her own, which could exacerbate drainage issues. Lowery and other homeowners voiced their preference for maintaining the area as residential, arguing that the introduction of commercial operations would disrupt the neighborhood's character and reduce property values.

The planning department reiterated its objection to the rezoning, citing inconsistencies with the Envision Montgomery 2040 comprehensive plan and the proximity of single-family homes.
