Residents unite against crippling rent hikes and cost of living

Residents of Paramount voiced urgent concerns over rising living costs during a recent government meeting, highlighting a proposed 8.4% rent increase that many fear will exacerbate financial hardships. One resident, who presented a petition with 81 signatures opposing the hike, detailed the struggles faced by families living on limited incomes, particularly those earning around $16 an hour.

The resident, who identified as disabled and a father, emphasized the unsustainable nature of current living expenses, which include rent, utilities, and other bills. He expressed that the financial strain could lead to dire consequences, including homelessness, particularly for vulnerable groups such as seniors on fixed incomes and single parents.
