Residents rally against controversial roadway plan in Wilderness Trails

Residents of Wilderness Trails voiced strong opposition during a recent government meeting regarding plans for a new roadway that threatens to disrupt their neighborhood. Chris Johnson, a local resident, expressed concerns about the proposed Castlewood road opening, which he argues would significantly increase traffic and compromise safety for families living in the area.

Johnson highlighted a long history of promises from various councils dating back to the 1990s, assuring residents that the road would not be constructed behind their homes. He noted that despite these assurances, the issue resurfaces with each new council, leaving residents feeling uncertain and frustrated.

Currently, Johnson has gathered 284 signatures from fellow residents opposing the roadway's development, emphasizing the community's collective discontent. He pointed out that recent changes to the parkway's route, prompted by a lawsuit, have resulted in the road being relocated to a position directly behind their subdivision, further exacerbating their concerns.

The meeting underscored the ongoing struggle between local residents and government plans, with Johnson urging council members to consider the voices of Wilderness Trails residents as they move forward with their decisions.
