Texas launches ambitious plan to boost job creation

The Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office is actively implementing House Bill 5, known as the Texas Jobs, Energy, Technology, and Innovation Act (JEDI Act), aimed at enhancing economic opportunities across the state. During a recent government meeting, the Executive Director of the office outlined the mission to coordinate economic development efforts and promote business incentive programs that foster job creation and capital investment.

The JEDI Act, established during the 88th legislative session, serves as a crucial tool for attracting capital-intensive projects and high-paying jobs to Texas communities. The office is collaborating closely with the Texas Comptroller's Office, school districts, and local economic development organizations to streamline processes for interested applicants.

As part of the initiative, the Comptroller's Office began accepting applications in January 2024, with three applications already submitted and positively recommended. Two of these applications are currently in the contracting phase, with announcements expected soon. The office has made resources available on its website, including information about the JEDI Act, application links, and administrative rules, to facilitate the process for potential applicants.
