Board in deadlock as chair nominations fail again

In a recent government meeting, a deadlock emerged during the election for the chair position, leading to a decision to postpone the vote until the next formal meeting in October. The meeting began with nominations for chair, with Mr. King Griffey and Mr. Jimmy Garland both receiving three votes each, resulting in a tie among the six members present.

Faced with the stalemate, the board discussed the lack of guidance on how to proceed. It was suggested that the election be deferred until a seventh member could be added to the board, which is anticipated to occur at the next meeting. A motion to pass the decision until October was made by Mr. Grenier and seconded by Ms. Berry, receiving unanimous support from the members present.

As a result, the current chair and vice chair will remain in their positions until the October meeting, where the election will be revisited. Additionally, the board addressed the need to update payroll signatures, which will also be moved to the October agenda. Despite the ongoing uncertainty regarding leadership, it was clarified that existing payroll authorizations would remain in effect until new appointments are confirmed.
