Teachers and students celebrate historic math achievement

During a recent government meeting, the spotlight shone brightly on the exceptional achievements of the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade math teams from the Germantown Municipal School District (GMSD). Anna Bregnoli, representing the 4th grade math team, expressed immense pride in the collective efforts of teachers, students, and community leaders that led to their remarkable rise from third place in the state three years ago to first place this year. Bregnoli emphasized the dedication and hard work that contributed to this success, highlighting the collaborative spirit within the district that fosters a supportive learning environment.

Following Bregnoli, Shelley Gibbs, a 5th grade math teacher, took the stage to celebrate her colleagues and the achievements of their students. She acknowledged the significant transition of her partner, Amy Harrell, from teaching English Language Arts to math, commending her commitment to mastering the new curriculum. Gibbs attributed their success to teamwork and goal-oriented strategies, which empower students to take risks and excel academically.
