Volunteers drive massive cost savings for local care services

During a recent government meeting, officials discussed the significant impact of volunteer services on the county's budget and operations. Although these volunteers are not included in the payroll or staffing plan, their contributions have resulted in cost savings that exceed the entire annual budget of the organization.

A heat map was presented, illustrating the distribution of care recipients and volunteers across the county. This visual tool highlights the extensive reach of services provided, confirming that the organization is effectively serving the entire county. Last year, the organization reported servicing 382 different destinations, including several locations outside McHenry County, particularly hospitals that residents frequently utilize.

The discussions underscored the importance of volunteer efforts in enhancing community care while also addressing logistical challenges related to service delivery across county lines.
