County board denies controversial tax sale proposal

During a recent government meeting, public comments were solicited regarding a proposed tax sale that had raised concerns among property owners. Darius, a property owner whose parcel was included on the list for the tax sale, expressed his confusion and concern about how his property ended up on such a list. He noted that he had only recently learned about the situation and had submitted an e-comment prior to the meeting.

In response, officials acknowledged receipt of his comments and advised him to contact the tax collector for clarification on the matter. The board then moved to deny the proposed Chapter 7 tax sale, aligning their decision with relevant taxation code sections. The motion was unanimously approved, indicating a collective agreement to halt the sale process.

Additionally, the meeting addressed a new agreement between the County of Lake and Hilltop Recovery Services, aimed at expanding drug recovery services. Director Jones presented the agreement, which involves a budget of $697,500 for fiscal year 2024-2025. This partnership is part of the Drug Medi-Cal organized delivery system and will enhance outpatient and intensive outpatient services, as well as residential placements for individuals in need of recovery support.
