City moves to demolish dangerous properties near schools

Despite attempts to contact the owner, Victor Thomas, who claimed to be out of town, no progress has been made. Consequently, the board decided to move forward with demolition due to the lack of action and the potential risk to nearby students.

The second case discussed was 1102 Sheridan Street, also recommended for demolition by Inspector Lisa Hayes. This property has been identified as a historical structure but has fallen into a dangerous state, with the inspector noting it appears on the verge of collapse. The owner failed to attend court proceedings and did not provide any updates regarding the property's condition. As a result, the board approved the demolition and imposed a $100 fine for the owner's inaction over the past year.
