Revenues Surge as City Budget Exceeds Expectations

In the latest government meeting, officials reported strong financial performance for the month of August 2024, marking the 11th month of the fiscal year. The general fund revenues reached $27,850,406, exceeding the budget by 113.5%. Expenditures totaled $21,516,631, representing 87.7% of the budget, resulting in a surplus of $6,333,775.

A detailed breakdown of August revenues revealed contributions from various sources: property tax generated $33,312, franchise tax brought in $99,156, and permits and fees accounted for $47,808. Additionally, fines and forfeitures totaled $56,039, while charges for services yielded $90,322. Revenue from other agencies was reported at $63,637, and interest and miscellaneous sources contributed $106,640. Notably, sales tax revenue for August was $340,711, with fiscal year-to-date sales tax reaching $4,295,304, reflecting a 2.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

On the expenditure side, significant allocations included $385,309 for infrastructure asset maintenance, $66,366 for community services, and $914,821 for public safety. Other expenditures included $102,682 for administration, $49,647 for non-departmental expenses, and $78,078 for staff support services.

In the debt service fund, revenues for August amounted to $2,138, solely from property tax, with no expenditures recorded for the month. This financial update underscores the government's robust fiscal health as it approaches the end of the fiscal year.
