Students demand urgent action on football eligibility issues

In a recent Board of Education meeting, President addressed concerns regarding the lack of livestreaming during a special meeting held the previous Thursday. Acknowledging that this decision may have created an impression of reduced transparency, the President clarified that the choice was made to avoid streaming what was anticipated to be an extended period of inactivity. However, after learning that local networks routinely stream similar sessions, the President committed to ensuring all future meetings will be livestreamed, regardless of content.

The meeting transitioned into a public comment section, where students were given priority to voice their concerns. Three student athletes, Isaac Furlong, Coleman Ross, and Jaden Leonard, spoke passionately about the urgency of appealing recent forfeits affecting their football team's eligibility. They urged the board to expedite the appeal process with the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) to avoid losing playoff points, emphasizing their hard work and dedication throughout the season.
