During a recent city council meeting, Ron Alvingne delivered a heartfelt tribute to the Lemoore Fire Department (LFD) and the city’s century-long partnership, marking a significant milestone in community service. Alvingne, who organized the recent celebration, highlighted the historical significance of the collaboration that established the first city hall and fire department building, emphasizing the benefits it has brought to the community over the past 100 years.
He noted that the LFD, comprised entirely of unpaid volunteers, has responded to 1,376 emergency calls this year alone, showcasing their dedication and commitment. Alvingne pointed out that the financial impact of these volunteers has saved the city and homeowners over a million dollars, underscoring the value of their service.
The celebration included recognition of key individuals who contributed to the event's success, including graphic artist Nye, who coordinated city events, and Ray Greenlee, who played a crucial role in retrieving the time capsule. The capsule contained a surprise—a report card from a local resident, adding a personal touch to the historical occasion.
Alvingne concluded by urging city leaders to continue fostering the partnership between the LFD and the city for another century, reinforcing the importance of community service and collaboration. The meeting served as a reminder of the vital role that volunteerism plays in the fabric of Lemoore, as well as the ongoing commitment required to maintain such partnerships.
