Developer seeks final vote on contentious $1 million project

In a recent village board meeting, significant discussions centered around the proposed annexation agreement for the properties at 1308 to 1330 South Myers Road, presented by Afzar Developers LLC. The developer, addressing concerns from the community, expressed gratitude for the extensive feedback received throughout the process, which included 25 revisions to the project. Trustee Bob voiced support for the project, acknowledging the developer's efforts to address community concerns regarding density, green space, and safety. He noted that the developer had made considerable concessions to appease opposition, suggesting that the project could be a solid addition to the village.

The board discussed the specifics of the annexation agreement, particularly a revision to the open space requirement, increasing it from 43% to 45%. This adjustment was incorporated into the ordinance presented for approval. Trustee Bochner made a motion to adopt the revised ordinance, which was met with agreement from the board.
