Oswego approves ambitious Megaladome golf development plan

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the development of a new commercial project in Oswego, which includes plans for a Megaladome featuring four golf domes and a clubhouse. The project aims to enhance local tourism and provide a facility for both recreational and practice golfing.

During the meeting, a key point of discussion was the projected customer numbers for the facility. Officials clarified that the anticipated annual visitors would reach approximately 290,000, which includes users of the practice facility. This figure was compared to Topgolf's annual attendance, suggesting that the Megaladome could attract a similar volume of visitors.

The clubhouse is expected to be partially completed by fall 2025, with full finishing slated for 2026. The design includes multiple levels, although it was noted that the height of the domes would limit visibility from the clubhouse. The possibility of rooftop seating was also raised, indicating a desire to enhance the visitor experience.

Maintenance of the domes was addressed, with assurances that the materials used are durable and designed to last over 20 years. The exterior will be treated to withstand dirt accumulation, with plans to use a color that is easier to maintain than white.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote to approve the concept plan for the Megaladome, marking a significant step forward for the project and the local community. Trustee reports following the vote highlighted the excitement surrounding the development, signaling a positive outlook for Oswego's future.
