School Board Honors Late Educator and Promotes Cancer Awareness

During a recent school board meeting, members adopted the agenda with items 5, 6, and 7 pulled for further discussion. The board approved the minutes from the September 11, 2024, special meeting and public hearing regarding the 2024-25 budget without any objections. However, the minutes from the regular meeting on September 17 were tabled for clarification on a specific issue related to the timeline and contract costs, with plans to revisit them at the next meeting on October 15.

In board member comments, Mr. Andrew honored the late Dr. Susan Hardy Arnold, a respected educator and former administrator in the Alachua County Public School District, who passed away on September 23, 2024. He highlighted her contributions to education and extended condolences to her family.

Additionally, Mr. Andrew reminded attendees that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, emphasizing the importance of early detection and encouraging participation in fundraising events and awareness activities. He urged everyone to wear pink throughout the month to support those affected by breast cancer.
