Casper prepares for major economic boost from NJCAA tournament

During a recent government meeting, representatives from Visit Casper, including Sales Project Manager Kate O'Neil and Director of Marketing Wayne Stewart, presented plans for the 2025 NJCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, which will take place in Casper. The tournament, which had a significant economic impact of over $1 million in 2024, is expected to generate even more revenue in 2025 due to an additional day of activities designed to engage participants with the local community.

O'Neil emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating that the tournament not only boosts local businesses but also provides nationwide exposure, as evidenced by last year's coverage on ESPN. The representatives highlighted the need for sponsorships to ensure the event's success, seeking a $10,000 commitment from local sponsors, similar to last year's support.

In addition to the basketball tournament, Shelby Kraus from Visit Casper discussed the broader economic impact of state tournaments held in the area, which collectively generate approximately $24 million annually. She expressed gratitude for the county's ongoing support and outlined plans for a new bid cycle to secure these events for the next four years.
