Community voices shape future of urban development plan

A special meeting of the Committee on Planning and the Economy convened on September 23, 2024, at the Kawananakoa Middle School cafeteria to discuss the revised primary urban central development plan, known as Bill 242024. The meeting aimed to gather feedback from the community in Council District 6, which encompasses areas from Kahala to Pearl City and includes representation from nearly 20 neighborhood boards.

Committee members, including Vice Chair Cordero, Council Member Okamoto, Chair Waters, and Council Member Dos Santos Tam, were present to facilitate discussions on the implications of the proposed development plan. The revised bill is expected to play a crucial role in shaping future development strategies across multiple council districts, specifically focusing on the needs and concerns of the residents in District 6.
