Community input sparks plans for Cumberland Park renaming

During a recent government meeting, Director Odom provided an update on several key initiatives within the Metro Parks department. He expressed gratitude to park board members for their participation in a community input meeting regarding the proposed renaming of Cumberland Park, highlighting the valuable insights gathered. A second opportunity for public input is scheduled for November 5th during the regular parks board meeting.

Director Odom also announced the launch of a new community asset and land use software (CAL) aimed at digitizing asset management and work orders. This initiative, which has been in the planning stages for seven years, is expected to enhance operational efficiency and transparency within the department. Odom acknowledged the contributions of Metro IT and vendor partner KCI in developing the system, which will streamline processes for field staff and improve productivity.

Additionally, discussions were held with representatives from the mayor's office regarding the fiscal year 2025 capital spending plan. Odom indicated that ongoing projects and departmental priorities were reviewed, with plans to share a roster of proposed projects for funding in the near future.
