Resident demands city action on skunk removal crisis

During a recent government meeting, resident Anna Faye Lehman voiced her frustrations regarding the rising costs associated with wildlife removal in her neighborhood. Lehman, who resides at 1610 Ponderosa Bridal, claimed that she has been subjected to misinformation and expressed her concerns about the local government's handling of animal control services.

Lehman detailed her experience of having to pay $2,468 for the removal of 17 skunks from her property, including two that had entered her garage. She recounted a previous incident years ago when the city’s animal control would assist residents without charge, specifically referencing a skunk issue on Franklin Road. However, she noted that this service has since been discontinued, leaving residents to bear the financial burden of wildlife removal.

Lehman argued that the increase in skunk invasions may be linked to the presence of chickens in the area, suggesting that the city should either reinstate free animal control services or provide financial assistance for residents facing similar issues. Her comments highlight a growing concern among residents about the adequacy of local wildlife management and the associated costs.
