Fire safety takes center stage after recent structure fires

During a recent village board meeting, officials highlighted the importance of smoke alarms in the wake of four structure fires occurring in the community over a three-week period. Fire Marshal Lorenda emphasized that working smoke alarms are crucial for ensuring the safety of residents, urging families to participate in an open house event on Saturday, October 5th, at Station 46, located at 17355 68th Court, from 9 AM to noon.

The board also addressed several administrative matters, including the appointment of Dave Neimeyer as chairperson of the Sister Cities Commission for fiscal year 2025, which was unanimously approved. Additionally, a resolution was adopted to execute a settlement agreement between the village and residents Monica and Timothy Bluen, further demonstrating the board's commitment to resolving community issues amicably.
