Architects unveil ambitious plans for historic preservation project

During a recent community meeting, Seward Development President Matthew Leek introduced a team of distinguished architects and planners poised to contribute to significant local projects. The meeting highlighted the expertise of Rick Gonzales, a leading figure in historical preservation in Florida. Gonzales, a former board member of the Federal Advisory Council for Historic Preservation, has an extensive background in restoring historical sites and is currently a trustee for the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation.

Joining him was Igor Reyes, known for his work on notable projects such as the Loews Hotel and the restoration of the San Maritz and Seville hotels in South Beach. Reyes specializes in the adaptive reuse of historical structures and is currently leading the design of a new condominium inspired by the Sarasota School of Design.

The team also included Philip DeMaria from Kimley Horn, who brings expertise in smart planning and infrastructure development. Community Relations Director Candice Magalia emphasized the importance of community feedback and engagement in the planning process, aiming to address residents' questions and concerns about upcoming projects.

The meeting underscored Seward Development's commitment to blending historical preservation with modern development, ensuring that community voices are heard as plans progress.
